Back of an all important reliance for full service carriers to attract premium travelers back of their frequent flier programs Vietnam Airlines has joined the international Skyteam Alliance.

Key members include the US backed Delta, Air France-KLM, China Southern, and Russia's Aeroflot.

Currently the airline has forecasted 12 million passengers in 2010 and is looking to expand its fleet of aircraft.

The alliance will assist the airline in code share agreements with other airlines and also look to stem the tide of competition by the fast paced regional low cost airline carriers.
