Asia's resort destinations are becoming increasingly competitive as Singapore's Sentosa island has opened the Universal Studios theme park. Part of the integrated Resorts World complex which includes a casino and multiple hotels.

On offer are 24 rides including well known franchise brands such "Shrek, Madagascar, Jurassic Park and Battlestar Galactica." In the ever growing changing marketplace with short haul regional travel dominating the horizon Phuket is seeing increased competition for the almighty travel dollar from a number of destinations.
