Officials in the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) have set forward goals for returning the country to arrival levels similar to 2009, as 14.4 million are being targeted next year.
Key to the strategy is a continued emphasis on regional markets with Mainland China the cornerstone with the bar set for numbers to surpass one million. Over 850,000 visited the Kingdom in 2009 and considering this year's EXPO in Shanghai has displaced many domestic travelers, next year a forward spike looks possible.
