Thailand's Government has announced the end of the free issuance of visa effective March 5th of this year. During last year's tourism stimulus package tourist visa fees had been waived for non exempt countries.
As a revenue earner visa fees are a considerable source of revenue for the country's foreign consulates and embassies abroad. Key markets affected who do not have bilateral agreements will be China, Taiwan, Russia and many Eastern European bloc nations.
