Reading the recent PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) data on international arrivals across the region, one key trend popped off the page, the boost of South Asian destinations.

Viewing data on this April versus 2010, leading the pack was Sri Lanka growing by 67%, Maldives 32% and India 18%,

For those in Phuket the competitive market worth watching is the beach destination of the Maldives where high average room rates and numbers continue to surge.
