A tourism piece in TTG Asia caught my attention talking about how Scandinavian visitors to Thailand perceived hospitality standards to be declining.

According to surveys from Sweden, Norway, Finland and Demark traveler satisfaction have gone down for the last three years in Thailand.

Commenting in the article was a manager from TUI Nordic said the ratings have gone from strong to normal over the period.

What's concerning to the wholesalers is an ongoing trend downwards and offers the feedback that these are related to mass tourism, changes in the geographic mix and traffic at Phuket International Airport.

Is it a new thing? As I see it, the famous thai smiles has been lesser and lesser over the last 15 years. Half of the investors/ owner have no ideas about the tourist trade, and most of the staff is treated badly.
And what about Phuket. The corruption, the bad service from some key people in the industry taxi drivers,, etc?
I also have to admit, that many invaders/ tourist think they buy the the country, when they invest 3.000 dollars in a vacation.

The problem is that the hotelstaff there benefits, service charges are less then before. The Tui'S and others forget that they are squeesing the hotels for always lower rates. Regarding thai airways this is very true,
