Songkran is here and the tsunami alert of two days past is now a shared memory.

Flights are operating as usual and from our talks with hotel operators only minimal fallout in hotel bookings.

Despite mixed reviews on evalucation process, airlinks were restored yesterday and a backlog of two and fro passengers have now found their way here or back abroad.

Perhaps the most damage is the psyche of Thai's who remain mindful of the 2004 incident, and superstition remains entrenched in the culture.

For now at least many are reluctant to go near the water.

As to the emergency efforts on the island, its always important to put perspective to things.

How long did it take to evaulate the Superdome after Hurricane Katrina or early this year the cowardly captain of the sinking cruise liner Costa Concordia?

Phuket has been spared another horrific natural disaster and now life has returned to normal.
