Phuket's March Arrivals Rise 13%

Total Phuket passenger airport arrivals rose 13.01% in March versus the same month last year.

Direct overseas flights continue to spur growth with a 27.23% surge for the month compared to 2010.

For the first quarter of this year the composite growth for combined arrivals stood at 13.42%.

Any possibility to calculate money spent and received by local community, say in year 2007 (before financial crisis) and 2010/2011. Will more tourists arrival mean higher revenue? Head count is important but heavy spending up scale tourists are needed as high end hotels and villas all slash their rates. Bill Barnett responds:
Agreed that data would be helpful. In most developed markets the tax or revenue departments track thsi data but in this case there is no reliable indicator of the impact and changes in the market due to a shift in geographic mix of tourists.
