A new edition to Phuket's dining scene is here with the opening of the Blue Elephant Governor Mansion. Offering both a restaurant and cooking school, the restaurant which is in the former Government residence is located just off Krabi Road.

Housed in the historic Phra Pitak Chinpracha Mansion which was built in 1903 in the Sino-Portuguese style. It has been featured in a number of Hollywood films including ‘The Killing Fields', ‘Heaven and Earth' and the serial "Young Indiana Jones Chronicles.'

As a chain Blue Elephant has rapidly expanded overseas in recent years here in Asia to Jakarta, in the Middle East's Dubai and Bahrain and Europe with locations including London, Paris, Moscow, Copenhagen and Brussels.

The continued revival of Phuket City (or town as you may wish to say) looks to be bolstered by new hotel supply coming into Cape Panwa and now the new Westin Koh Siray set to launch soon.

Thanks Bill... have been there today and met the chairman of the group. He gave me a very nice tour. They are doing an excellent job. Will try tomorrow for my birthday dinner... :)
