Phuket Airport Arrivals Up 11%

Arrivals at Phuket International Airport (PIA) for the first four months of 2012 are up 11% over the same period last year.

In terms of segmentation, international arrivals have increased 13%, while the domestic sector ranked in at 7%.

Total passenger traffic for the period (arrivals and departures) stood at 3,486,000 compared to 3,151,665 in 2011.

For total arrivals the absolute number for January through April was 1,699,307.

Looking at a fearless forecast the full year figures for total passengers could very well top 10 million with arrivals breaching a new record of 5 million.

As for the start of construction on the airport expansion, very little site work is on display at the moment.

That looks like good news... but i think it would be interesting to see how the segmentation of those international flights have also changed. i.e. low cost,long haul, charters etc...Also is there anyone measuring the average expenditure per guest? and if so would be nice to see if there has been positive change compared to last year. Last but not least, does anybody know what is the average length of stay in phuket month by month, this might be the reason why there more arrivals, better short term deals. Sorry Bill I am not trying to turn your news sour, I am just curious to find out.
