Growing travel between the north's Ubon Ratchathani and neighboring Laos is seeing a steady increase of travelers.
Aided by the proliferation of low-cost airline carriers, Thailand's tertiary destinations are experiencing a renaissance of tourism activity.
I recently read an article by Nation writer Suchat Sritama who talked about the prospects of a four lane highway between the destination to Laos and onwards to Vietnam.
Getting there by car, bus or plane is critical to any destination's survival, and the regions infrastructure improvements are a positive sign of things to come.
Of course another driver of demand from Thai border towns to both Cambodia and Lao continues to be casinos located on the other side of the Mekong River.
