Nearby Trang is looking into tapping into some of Phuket's commercial and tourism success as it has unveiled plans to study an airport runway extension.

The process looks tedious as reported in media outlets with both a feasibility and environmental study set as stepping stones of the process.

Currently Nok Air and AirAsia are primary feeders of business to Trang.

Under proposed new plans the apron would be expanded to include room for four aircraft instead of the existing two together with upgrading passenger facilities.

Though for the moment it's all planning and no firm development on the ground.
