Social media circles are buzzing over the current Monocle magazine's Brand Thailand survey.
Some say that Monocle's Editor in Chief Tyler Brule has a stated 'conflict of interest' after publishing what is being termed an advertorial.
For visitors to Bangkok they may have seen a series of billboards that have been credited to www.modern-thailand.com. In actual fact the government is footing the bill for the entire effort.
An assortment of Thailand-based media firms have also cried foul over the appointment, saying that no competitive bidding had been carried out.
A recent piece in the Bangkok Post was quite pointed in the current administration's efforts at an 'extreme makeover.' And now the story is playing out in social media.
