The islands newest attraction Phuket Aquapark is set to open on December 15 in Kathu located in the Phuket Country Club/Bang Wad Dam area. Gearing up to cater to tourist's and locals alike the area already hosts a number of tourist facilites such as golf, go carting, shooting ranges and shopping which is in a catchment area of over 50% of the islands hotel rooms over the hill in Patong and vicinity.

Located on a 40 rai site and developed by a joint venture foreign/Thai partnership construction progress is well on it's way to completion. While a second waterpark is opening this year at West Sands in Mai Khao, certainly the location of the Kathu facility wil be able to generate considable numbers. For tourism the park is a great demand generator and the opening is well timed to capture peak visitor season.
