Media viewing outlets are guesstimating but looking back at the 2006 final match between Italy and France an estimated TV audience of over 260 million viewers tuning in. In what is arguably the largest global sporting many local tourism players are wondering is this a plus or minus for June and July visitors.
While they travel or stay at home?
As the British pound is plundered and Euro eclipses, perhaps a potent mix of currency and football fanaticism will result in travelers taking to their barcaloungers instead of those shiny airline seats.
Historically big events do displace some travel but perhaps a saving grace is the island is in the midst of its low season so the sudden impact will be minimized.
