After four long years Hong Kong has lifted the travel ban to the Philippines.

In the end it came down to a formal apology and compensation to families of the hostage crisis in 2010.

With Manila's high voltage move into the gaming sector, hoteliers are giving the move a thumbs up to stimulate short haul business from nearby Hong Kong.

Travel bans remain a key issue here in Thailand as do advisories over the country's ongoing political crisis.

As of now though, no Thai offices are apologizing to anyone for the damage to the tourism sector.
