This one in from the land of smiles, a new airline 'Happy Air' has announced weekend flights to the Malaysian holiday isle of Langkawi and also daily service to Hat Yai. Flying a twin engine Saab 340A commuter aircraft, flights are set to commence in October. I checked out the newly launched website http://www.happyairway.com which looks to be a work in progress.
According to the website bookings may be made at the ticket office in Sakoo, Thalang. This is just the latest entry in new service with our neighbor to the south; with MAS affiliate Firefly current operating a direct route between Phuket to Penang which is increasing in popularity.
Coming into high season it looks as if interregional travel is on the rise with Thai AirAsia set to start direct service into Bali and reportedly Surabaya before the end of the year.
