As we move into the first quarter of 2012 the damaging effects from 2011's waterworld crisis to the Thai economy still remain puzzling unclear.

Did Cinderella lose her magic slipper in a pool of water during the Bangkok floods last year or is it still within a grasp?

Financial analysts range in opinion, with most weighing in that recovery will take six to twelve months to crawl out from underneath the fallout to Thailand's export and industrial production.

Two of the hardest hit sectors have been the automobile and hi tech houses, which saw the pipeline come to a virtual standstill for an extended period of time.

Inflation continues to be a thorn in the side of the government given their massive promises to low income earners during last year's elections.

For now GDP forecasting remains an arcane and seemingly confused indicator on the state of the nation.
