Nearby Vietnam is cranking up their infrastructure and mega-project pipeline with some very notable mixed use gaming developments.

A recent announcement on a joint projected between Malaysia's Genting Group and VinaCapital for a reported USD4 billion master planned tourism project.

Located in Than Binh in the Chu Lai Economic Zone south of Danang.

It's a massive undertaking with resorts, casinos, and residential homes.

Genting of course is best known for Resorts World projects in Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines.

While in south Vietnam the MGM Grand on the Ho Tram Strip is experiencing the building of a USD4.2 billion project.

Set to open in 2013 the site is south of Ho Chi Minh City.

While in Phuket destination and mega project continue to languish, though a flood of domestic mid-scale hotel projects continue to launch.

As to whether Phuket and Thailand in general should look at gaming, many different views are out there on the subject. One thing for certain is that given the speed of regional development the country is lagging in significant project iniatives.
