Somehow the term Greater Phuket has become a latchkey phrase for an ever-increasing circle who want to bask in the moonglow of the destination giant.

I'm sitting on a flight back from Bali and catching up in the news about the Bali and Beyond initiative.

Certainly talking to hotel groups and tourism players increasing popularity in more nature based places like Flores (gateway to those Komodo lizards), Lombok, Sumba, Gili islands and Sumbawa often crop up in chit chat.

The issues of infrastructure and the lack of transport links continue to be major inhibitors to an ongoing spillover.

It's a similar case for Phang Nga, Krabi and the bay, how to mass a leading destination into a hub and spoke system of tourism cooperation?

Similar challenges but I have to say I do like the phase Bali and Beyond more than Greater Phuket. Any ideas of a new tagline will no doubt be gratefully accepted.
