I travel more or less weekly between Bangkok and Phuket and i use BKK Airways 99% of the time.
BKK Airways has new and modern planes compared to Thai which has one of the oldest feet of aircraft in Asia.
BKK Airways has nice lounges at both airports and frequent traveler soon get premier status which allows access to their premier lounge in Bangkok.
BKK Airways service is surly better in terms of service and care on the ground and in the air.
The only negative for some people is that there is not business class between BKK and PKT, but for the one hour flight its fine and not needed.
Many of my fellow Thai friends commented that they feel they don't receive friendly service at Thai International compared to the service Foreigners receive. BKK Airways treats people very equally... (I cannot judge this, but that what i hear often!)
Summary: BKK Airways is cheaper and better in service with new planes!
