Waiting for the Big Sleep
I really cant understand the thinking behind this, I am not saying its as narrow as the age window, but it has to be close.
In many country's this type of ad placed in the media would be illegal but by way of discrimination. Perhaps they are just following industry trends. Are there any major hotel groups that still think out of the circle?
Bill Barnett responds:
Thanks for the comment and valid point. In practice companies who have a wider spread like to develop people into the system who can continue to grow so look at younger ages. Its unfortunate but something you find in any part of the world and even more prevalant in the US or Europe. Age in Asia often is an advange as it gives experience in dealing with difficult hotel owners and situations so there is balance. One issue though remains in a struggling downturn is people older tend to have more family members and in international hotels the company pays the increased housing and educational costs. There are no clear cut guidelines but looking at the industry Asia wide think there is considerable more opportunity for experienced and savy older hotel managers then most parts of the world.
Bill Barnett responds:
It's in Kalim or Greater Patong. Up next to Lims Restaurant overlooking the bay. Was formerly the Pantipa.
