Following the announcement of Hong Kong's New World Hospitality's pending acquisition after entering into a sales and purchase agreement for the US based Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, industry sources are speculating if the brand will be coming to South Patong.
New World is currently in the development process of a luxury resort on the high end South Patong beachfront Emerald Bay site. Previously this was pegged to be a Park Hyatt, and had traded hands from Taiwan's Evergreen Group to the Bangkok-based Srivikorn family.
While the Hong Kong group eventually took a controlling interest in the project they had pegged the branding of the resort for a new luxury brand under development. Logically with the well known Rosewood moniker in their portfolio the name game makes absolute sense.
