While Phuket's surf scene is continuing to ante up in all things buzzed globally couchsurfing is becoming an instant hit.

For those not in the know the term relates to travelers who now tap into a rising culture of replacing hotel or guest house stays with staying on someone's couch in their home or apartment.

While not for everyone the movement has even spurred a website connecting up guests and hosts. A recent visit to the site showed more than 2.5 million CouchSurfers in 245 countries had connected.
