Two well known Thailand resorts - Phuket's 108 room The Surin (formerly the Chedi) and Samui's Napasai are both closing for upgrading.
For The Surin Phuket a six month hiatus will take place from May to the end of October.
Leading designer Ed Tuttle is on board, who is most famous for his work at the adjacent iconic Amanpuri.
While in Samui the Orient-Express Operated 52 room Napasai will shut down from mid May to mid June.
There work is being undertaken at the beachfront with the rocky underwater areas being reshaped into a more usable lagoon.
Work is being supervised by the local marine authorities with intention to restore marine life in the area.
