A new 305 room Novotel branded hotel is underway at the site of the former Patong Bayshore Hotel. Plans call for the resort to be opened by the end of next year on the approximately 10 rai site.
The property is being developed by the same developer as the existing Novotel Patong. As a sign of the growing strength of the Patong tourism midscale market French hotel operator ACCOR have allowed a second property under the same brand to come into the catchment area.

Bill Barnett responds:
Interesting view, I'd say from your comment this means Patong being the epicenter of the islands entertainment industry that the area will benefit from more guests as more hotel open. Certainly in terms of hotel trading the Patong hotels are trading extremely well even during low season in comparison to some of the other beach areas.
