Back of the strategic partnership between Tune Hotels.com and Evolution Capital PCL, the company has said that the first limited service property to come into development will be in Phuket's Patong area with others targeted for the island, along with Bangkok. With rooms of 12 square meters and the tag line "5 star beds at 1 star prices, power showers, great locations, clean and secure" the model calls for a surcharge similar to AirAsia for addition items including air conditioning, WIFI, towels and toiletries, hairdryer and breakfast sets.
Current you can book one of the chains Kuala Lumpur properties from an amazing THB 133 and for Bali from THB 311. Booking are similar to the airline low cost models where pricing depends on what period is booked and also a variety of options but final night stays will be far less then ACCOR's budget chain IBIS which now has two hotels on the island. While most amenities are included there are no TV's in the rooms which will be interesting to see how the market reacts.
Hotel models like this rely on critical mass within given markets so expectations are for Phuket to see a number of Tunes in the near future. More information on the brand is at TuneHotels.com
