Recently launched Asian hospitality investment firm Red Planet hotels is using its platform in Bangkok to develop budget hotels in five Asian countries.

From its master franchise branding alliance with Tune hotels lead by leading low cost airline CEO Tony Fernandez of AirAsia, the company currently has 6 hotels with 1,023 rooms under development.

The Red Planet investment universe is focused on Thailand, China, Indonesia, Philippines and Bangladesh. Leadership is back of ex-Kingdom Hotel executives Tim Hansing and Ken Kerr.

Tune is focused on the limited service sector with a pay for services model similar to low cost airlines. It fits one step below the budget tier of ibis and Holiday Inn Express.
