A resurgence in Greater Phuket is seeing new hotel development spur in Khao Lak. Owners of Patong's Graceland hotel have commenced construction of a 350 room project in Bang Sak north of Le Meridien, Sarojin and JW Marriott.
Taking up an area over 40 rai, an opening in early 2012 is being planned for what will be known as the Graceland Khao Lak Resort. According to sources at the project the property is look to tap into its existing client base in Phuket and offer an alternative or package together the two destinations into a single holiday.
Late last year a Phuket investor purchased the Bangsak Beach Resort which had been closed since the tsunami. Transaction activity for beach front and resort grade property in Khao Lak is resurfacing due to favorable land prices and an upward trend in leisure travelers.
