Its official since we recently updated the hotel pipeline registering in at 38 new properties in the pipeline the total has now exceeded the 40 mark and continues to climb. Recent announcements of a 280-room Pullman managed hotel in Naithon and the 70-room U boutique resort in Kamala have pushed up the total.
Getting out our crystal ball and looking to provide some insight on where may be the next set of hotel developments are, starting north to south we'd like to set out some likely scenarios. Mai Khao has a 300 rai site with beachfront currently on the market, given new projects such as Renaissance, Holiday Inn and the recently opened Anantara the area is becoming a significant market.
There is a hotel site near to the Pullman in Naithon currently under preliminary work, so expectations are that a second branded hotel may come up in that area. While in Kamala Bangkok based Tanayong have a second hotel site on their land holding there which remains a prime beach front location.
South Patong out over the bridge plays host to the Emerald Bay project, which was intended to be a Park Hyatt, and remains at large, and Gaysorn Groups Cape Paradise high-end location is earmarked for an upscale villa and hotel project. While in Kata Noi Lehman's cliff side piece of stunning real estate continues to defy transaction odds.
Rounding out the list is the Four Season's Laem Ka land which failed to transact and continues to be held by Singapore's HPL and the Lehman liquidators. Long term this site hold great potential for a premium product. So that's it, we'd weigh strongly in that there will materialization on some of this list before the end of the year so stay tuned.
