In what is purportedly Phuket's oldest hotel, the On On has closed down for an upgrade.
According to a report in the Phuket Gazette, the property which is 85 years old and was featured in the Hollywood movie The Beach, will be renovated and reopened next year with an increased number of rooms.
A Thai operator will take over the day to day running of the famed Phuket town hotel.
