A new upscale resort in Karon is set to open this November as the 262 room Centara Grand will debut in time for high season.

Located on the beachfront, the property is set to raise the profile of the competitive set which includes Le Meridien, Hilton, Moevenpick and Kata Thani for southern supremacy.

Management is by the leading Thai group who have in recent years gone on an upmarket drive back of new 'Grand' tagged properties in Krabi and Bangkok which will pair into the premium new Phuket resort.

For Karon the addition of a large ballroom which can accommodate up to 600 people looks to take aim at the MICE (meetings, incentives, conference and exhibitions segment.
