Phuket hotel developers take note; there are no local resorts on Trip Advisors new 2009 World's Top 10 Eco-friendly properties which were compiled by the sites editors and readers. While the island has significant opportunities with all of the hardware for such projects including sunny weather for solar power, wind, rainforests and natural habitat's there has been little inclination nor initiative unlike so many other resort destinations the world over who are embracing these green initiatives.
Trip Advisors List is:
1. Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort, Hopkins, Belize
2. Hotel Terra Jackson Hole, Teton Village, Wyoming
3. La Cusinga Eco Lodge, Uvita, Costa Rica
4. Morgan's Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge, San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua
5. The Ambrose Hotel, Santa Monica, California
6. Hix Island House, Isla de Vieques, Puerto Rico
7. Alaska's Sadie Cove Wilderness Lodge, Homer, Alaska
8. Finca Rosa Blanca Coffee Plantation and Inn, Santa Barbara, Costa Rica
9. Concordia Eco-Tents, Virgin Islands National Park, St. John
10. Hotel Monaco Seattle - a Kimpton Hotel, Seattle, Washington
Environmental concerns continue to be higher each year in traveler's priorities in choosing holiday destinations so there continues to be hope that new projects entering the market will use some of these international benchmarks in creating world class eco-friendly resorts.
