A new tourism initiative has been announced with the launching of the 1st Thailand Boutique Awards 2010 for hotels in the country. The awards are cooperation by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, MasterCard, KTC-Krungthai Card and leading newspaper Krungthep Turakij.

With a total of 61 awards only boutique hotels with a size of 4 up to 50 rooms will be eligible. There are six separate categories which are: architecture, renovation/modification, culture, nature/environment, total experience and community travel.

There continues to be a growing trend of smaller niche properties entering and competing in the mainstream accommodation market and these awards allow a great opportunity for these boutique hotels to gain the recognition they deserve.

Entry information is available at Thailand Boutique Awards with winners set to be announced on November 17, 2010.
