One of Southeast Asia's most anticipated resort openings has been set as the W Retreat Koh Samui will open on August 1st. Offering 75 private pool villas and the chain's "Whatever/Whenever "concierge styled service, the property is being viewed with keen interest by the other luxury hotels on the island.

While sales of the 17 private residences has been sluggish back of off plan marketing and the absence of an operating hotel. Expectations are that transactions will be spurred once operations for the resort commence.

Samui now has a Four Seasons and will have a W shortly, which is something destination Phuket has yet to achieve.
