HOTEL DEPARTURES West Sands Management Team Out

Last updated: Fri 26 Feb, 2010 10:12 am | Viewed: 1104 times

All six hotel expatriate management staff of West Sands Phuket including Chief Executive Tony Cousens have departed the property. There has been no announcement of a replacement for the moment.

This now marks the second change in high level teams for the 426 key resort which is comprised of pool villas and a condo hotel operation. Previously well known local hotelier Claude Baltes had been overseeing the hospitality led residential offering and has since moved on as General Manger of Golden Tulip's Mangosteen Resort.

Last year an Outrigger managed full service resort was cancelled by the developers which includes Tesco's top man Sir Terry Leahy. Plans have called for a launch of a vacation ownership or timeshare operation with the resort already recruiting a team including ex Marriott Vacation Club (MVCI) manager's.

Splash Jungle continues to be in operation, while the hotel launch date remains unconfirmed.

Why did they leave? Did both the hotel and timeshare management staff depart?
