While the concept has yet to be embraced by brand-hungry international hotel chains the rising niche of Syariah-compliant accommodation is on the rise in Asia.

I recently picked up an article in the Singapore Straits Times about a property in Jakarta called the Sofyan Hotel Betawi had seen wide success once it tapped into the syariah offering.

Non-Muslims are accepted as well, though only Halal food, and no alcohol is served.

Other touch points include prayer mats, and in-room Qurans. As for dcor in keeping with religious guidelines artwork or graphics do not contain images of animals or humans.

Within Asia's footprint the sector certainly does have legs, considering the vast number of domestic and international Muslim travelers.
