Leading Hong Kong developer New World Hotels has recently taken a number of strategic steps in order to establish itself as a leading hotel management entity.
A new corporate platform and identity has just been launched as New World Hospitality was recently unveiled. The European chain which is also controlled by the group Penta Hotels has been repositioned 'pentahotels.'
On the management side the group has been busy muscling up with two key executives from Shangri-La Symon Brilde and Marc Hedigar recruited.
A series of conversions on assets which are owned by the group and had been managed by other international operations are coming under the new umbrella on a staggered basis.
Currently hotels in Manila, Ho Chi Minh City, Shanghai and four other China properties are now under the new brand with 20 properties in the pipeline.
Here in Phuket there remains considerably industry speculation over one of the islands premium sites, the former Park Hyatt/Emerald Bay beachfront development in South Patong. New World had been a stakeholder in the property and it would make logical sense for them to move this forward in the new expansion plans. Though at present no announcement has been made, many are watching this story closely .
