According to Lodging Econometrics Spring 2011 Update there are currently 60 hotel projects with an astounding 25,431 rooms in the development pipeline.
As of perspective this amount in new rooms is over 50% of Phuket's total existing inventory.

With gaming on the horizon and a flock of international brands operating, expect the destination to be increasingly competitive in the new few years.
