Former Sofitel Khao Lak Branded As JW Marriott

Khao Lak now has its third international chain managed property with the signing of the JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort. The 298-room property will see Marriott take over management of what was once the Sofitel, which suffered a tremendous loss of life and damage during the Asian tsunami.

Other global brands present in the market include Le Meridien and Ramada. Prior to the Marriott deal an agreement had been in place for Kempenski to manage the hotel and after that a smaller European chain so hopefully the third time is a charm.
