National media headlines have been hitting fever pitch over the alleged link between the murder of Phuket newsman Wisit "Ae" Tangwitthayaporn and land title issues at a prime Patong headland property known as Freedom Beach.
Many international and Thai hotel industry development executives have visited the 65 rai site over the past few years and hotel chains have been courted for the premium property.
News this year of a land title investigation occurred at the same time the property was being offered to a wide range of investors both here and abroad.
Political intrigue is now the rule of the day, and it looks like one of Phuket best known potential luxury hotel sites may not make it off the sidelines anytime soon.
