Today marks the return of one of the island's best known upscale beachfront resorts with 108 rooms - The Surin.
Formerly managed by GHM and now independently managed, the property is partly owned by Malaysian hospitality group YTL.
After an extensive renovation the icon is back in the market as of today and first guests will be checking in.
Speaking to General Manager Antonio Saponara the main improvement have been to a large number of guest bungalows the beachfront pool, outlets and public areas.
A phase two upgrade will be undertaken in 2012 when the resort will close for two months in May and June to complete the remaining units and spa.
Designer Ed Tuttle who is also the inspiration with the next door luxury mainstay Amanpuri drove the redo.
While the property is run independently, Antonio is spending some 80 days annually out promoting The Surin overseas.
To date booking for this high season are running high and two critical factors are the unique private location and large catchment of return guests who are anxious to return.
