Another homegrown hotel chain the Aleenta group is set to expand into branded hotel chain services. Recently speaking to Urs Aebi who is the group's Director of Operations and Development thephuketinsider.com learned more of the company's ambitions. As a brainchild of Anchalika Kijkanakorn who formerly worked in the international finance with GE Capital, first came a resort in Pranburi and then just over the bridge in Natai or Greater Phuket as we call it.
As an offshoot of the two hotels and as owners of hotels started to approach the group Akaryn Hospitality Management was set up. It offers two brands with Aleetna, Akaryn and also the Ka Spa. Akaryn currently has its first resort being developed on a private island in Southern Cambodia which is a fast rising star in the regions tourism map.
Taking the lead from Thailand's U Hotels, Hotelcorp, Bed Management, Astudo, Absolute, InVision, Unico and a number of others, we are seeing new products come on line addressing niche as well as mainstream hospitality projects.

Bill Barnett responds:
Aleenta. If you look at the Phang Nga property, the resort has gotten a serious amount of press, and accolades and performs well in the boutique hotel segment against properties such as Sala and Phuket Pavilons along with larger branded projects.
Aleenta has 3 hotel operations by now, the latest is NISHAVILLA at Huay Yang which started hotel operations Jan 1, 2009 with a small number of villas and now has plans to add condominions and the hotel (similar to Phang Nga). Nishavilla was built under Anchalika's brothers leadership.
Just wanted to complete your information as I think it's another step of Aleenta's progress.
Bill Barnett responds:
Thanks for the updated information.
