File this one in the all too hard basket but this year's 2012 Olympic Games in London will not take on a big event pioneering effort for a carbon-offset program.

Organized pointed out that the offset guidelines require that investment would need to be put outside of the U.K. into poor countries aboard.

With a reduced budget the effort is not on a locally focused program looking at wind-turbines, biomass energy and solar power initiative.

In the world of growing economic stress, unfortunately green often tops the list when it comes time to trim the financial tree.
