A key global body representing 230 airlines IATA (International Air Transport Association) has spoken out against a proposed 15% tax on ticket prices by means of a green tax in Thailand.
Set to be implemented in 2012, the levy is part of a nationwide environmental initiative on who it considers to be large scale drives of pollution in the private sector.
In a country which counts tourism as one of its primary economic indicators, an increase of this magnitude is expected to see cost sensitive travelers move to other destinations.
