On the lead up to the upcoming mid February launch of the Phuket wide plastic bag surcharge by island retailers two of the largest volume organizations have yet to come to the table. As reported 7-Eleven and Tesco Lotus have not joined the campaign yet, though there continues to be mounting pressure from the private and public sector.
The latest retailer to sign up was Villa Supermarket in Chalong who joined the growing list of participants. February 14th is d-day for the debut of the environmental initiative which will see a one baht charge for small bags and two baht for larger bags.
