Looking at the offering of local firm Andaman Discoveries it's interesting to finally see Phuket businesses embracing responsible travel. With offerings that range from volunteer programs working with tsunami orphans, disabled children and English tutorials along with cultural tours and eco based adventures.

The company took up the work of North Andaman Tsunami Relief(NATR) started in 2004 and has implements 120 projects in 12 villages working with local people in each instance. With cookie cutter mass tourism on the decline it's good to see the initiative and long term sustainable approach of offering such as this. There remains a growing groundswell of visitors seeking a more unique and personal experience when visiting the island and this certainly accomplishes a two fold approach with assisting the tourism recovery together with leaving a positive lasting footprint in the Greater Phuket area.
